Together In the Kitchen Everything French!

February 12 at 6:00 pm 9:00 pm

This winter we are cooking a French meal to celebrate Candlemas and eat it together!

Candlemas, or La Chandeleur in French, is a religious holiday celebrated in France on February 2nd. It’s a day to eat crêpes and enjoy family time. The name “Chandeleur” comes from the French word chandelle, which means “candle”.

To celebrate, people light candles as a symbol of purification, eat crêpes which symbolize the sun, and the return of light after winter, and perform fortune-telling while making crêpes.

“Together in The Kitchen” is Little Island Creamery’s quarterly opportunity for us to share cooking skills and tips, empower each other by learning how to cook, encourage healthy behaviors and build community!

February’s Menu:

  • Hachis Parmentier (French beef and potato casserole)
  • Salade d’endive au poivre (endive salad)
  • Sweet Crêpes with assorted sweet toppings to celebrate Chandeleur (Candlemas)

We will meet again in May for an Italian meal.
